Derbyshire can also claim the first national park to be set up in Britain - the Peak National Park which lies at the southern end of the Pennines, between Sheffield and Manchester, its boundaries also spread into several other counties. The park covers over 500 square miles, three quarters of which lie within Derbyshire itself.
There is a choice of bustling market towns such as Ashbourne, Bakewell and Chesterfield and many picturesque villages nestled in unspoilt countryside, situated in the heart of the Peak District. The beautiful Georgian Spa town of Buxton boasts the highest market place in the country.

Shrigley Hall Hotel Golf & Country Club is a 4 star manor house in Cheshire, right on the edge of the Peak District National Park, set in 262 acres of glorious English countryside and only 15 miles south of Manchester.
Built in 1825 as a private family home for MP William Turner, Shrigley Hall is now a luxurious hotel boasting many original features, stately interiors, a spa with indoor swimming pool, an 18-hole golf course, and an AA Rosette award-winning restaurant. The public areas are spacious, combining traditional and contemporary decor, and include a well-equipped gym and leisure facilities.
There is a wide choice of bedroom sizes and styles, all have private facilities with complimentary toiletries, flat screen TV, tea/coffee making facilities and a safe.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Depart Local Area for Shrigley Hall
Step aboard your luxury coach as you start your journey to Pott Shrigley. There will be ample stops en-route for comfort and for lunch. Arriving at Shrigley Hall Golf & Country Club, where you will spend the next 4 nights with dinner, there will be tea/coffee on arrival while the porters take your luggage to your room. Unpack and relax or explore the hotel & grounds before dinner.
Day 2: Anderton Boat Lift
Today we will enjoy a boat lift and river trip at the Anderton Boat Lift, a Victorian masterpiece of waterway engineering built to connect the River Weaver and the Trent & Mersey canal. Later we will visit the medieval market town of Nantwich, with its atmospheric streets, medieval timbered buildings, antique and craft shops. Free time to explore before returning to our hotel.
Day 3: Derbyshire Dales Tour
After a good buffet breakfast we take a tour around the Derbyshire Dales. A world of contrasting natural beauty, with moors and dales, rivers, springs and caverns and at its heart the Peak District National Park, known and loved by millions for its breath-taking landscapes, relaxation, inspiration and adventure. Spanning parts of Cheshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Yorkshire in the heart of England, it is home to dozens of market towns, pretty villages and historic houses. We will stop at the best places the Dales can offer, Castleton, Buxton, Bakewell and more. Returning back to the hotel to relax before dinner.
Day 4: Liverpool & Liver Building 360 Tour
Today you will visit Liverpool, and the Royal Liver Building. For the first time in its 100+ year history, the Royal Liver Building is unlocking its doors and inviting you to explore this landmark building. You'll get a tour of some of the building's hidden secrets, journeying to the 15th floor to get breathtaking panoramic views across Liverpool from the most iconic viewing point in the city, and getting up close to the world famous Liver Birds. See a world-class immersive audio visual experience set in the original mechanism room, telling the story of Liverpool's recent history exploring the buildings significance and how a city full of culture, sport, history and music has made its mark across the world. There will also be time to explore the Albert Docks and visit the many museums. After a great day, you return to your hotel to relax before dinner. The lift takes you to the 10th floor and from there you have 124 steps to the top. (Not all at once)
Day 5: Depart for Home
After breakfast and cases have been loaded onto the coach, we say farewell to our hosts at Shrigley Hall and return home via the Peak District. There will be stops for comfort and lunch. You should arrive in your local area late afternoon early evening.
