Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Depart Local Area
Our journey starts with us travelling north to the City of York. Within York's towering medieval walls is a heart of rich and colourful character, with its history recorded in the streets, buildings and museums gathered around the mighty Minster. Discover as many of the treasures and architectural gems this remarkable city has to offer; Its cobbled streets, the famous Shambles and the National Railway Museum. After lunch we continue our journey through the North Yorkshire Moors to our hotel in Scarborough where we will spend the next 4 nights with dinner bed & breakfast.
Day 2: Whitby and North Yorkshire Moors Railway
Today we travel to the bustling fishing port of Whitby where the famous abbey, the inspiration for Bram Stoker's 'Dracula', stands guard, high above the town. There's time to explore the narrow streets, perhaps buy some Whitby jet - the 'black amber of the north', and have 'proper' fish and chips for lunch. In the afternoon we take the steam-hauled North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a trip through the spectacular national park and 'Heartbeat' country to Pickering. Here we will rejoin our coach to return to our hotel in Scarborough. Time to freshen up before dinner.
Day 3: Scarborough Fair - Afternoon Tea, Tea Dance (Included)
After breakfast, we set off to Scarborough Fair. The halls feature one of the largest collections of steam engines, mechanical organs, and vintage cars from times gone by. This afternoon, we enjoy a buffet afternoon tea with tea or coffee, followed by a tea dance. Live music is provided by a Wurlitzer organist playing a selection of your favourite melodies. Returning back to the hotel.
Day 4: Filey and Castle Howard
This morning we travel via the coast road to visit the traditional seaside resort of Filey; the gentle pace of life, long sandy beach and historic promenade attracting generations of visitors. We continue to Castle Howard (entrance included). This has been rated as one of the world's top ten grandest Baroque mansions and the perfect setting for the hit TV series Brideshead Revisited. Set within 1000 acres of breathtaking landscape, Castle Howard is an 18th century stunning mansion situated a short distance from York, as well as stunning architecture it boasts beautiful grounds, gardens, lakes and events are often held there.
Day 5: Depart for Home
