Belfast is Northern Ireland's capital. In recent years this city has undergone a remarkable transformation and Belfast's economy is now booming. With important 19th century buildings and award-winning 20th century architecture, this city offers excellent facilities and many modern tourism developments.

The scenic River Lagan flows through central Belfast and into the North Channel. Over the years, the important River Lagan has provided the city with much wealth and was an integral part of the city's thriving shipbuilding industry in the early 20th century.

Undoubtedly the most famous ship ever to be built in Belfast was the ill-fated Titanic, which was actually built in the city's very own Harland & Wolf shipyards in 1911. This legacy is recalled in the renovated dockyards' Titanic Quarter, which includes the Titanic Belfast, a museum reminiscent of a ship's hull, as well as shipbuilder Harland & Wolff's drawing offices and the Titanic Slipways.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Depart Local Area

After boarding your luxury coach, we start our journey north with comfort stops en-route. Still heading north, we cross the border into Scotland, where we will overnight at our chosen hotel. Here we will spend our first night with dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 2: Depart for Ireland

After breakfast we head to the west coast of Scotland to the port of Cairnryan and board our ferry to Belfast. On arrival we make our way to the Stormont hotel in Belfast, where we will spend the next 4 night's half board.

Day 3: Giant's Causeway

Today we will travel along the spectacular Antrim coast, one of the finest drives in Ireland to the Giant's Causeway. Flanked by the wild Atlantic Ocean and a landscape of dramatic cliffs, for centuries the Giant's Causeway has inspired artists, stirred scientific debate and captured the imagination of all who see it. This is Northern Ireland's only UNESCO World Heritage Site. To learn how the Causeway was formed, pick up an audio guide and unlock the secrets of this landscape at your own pace. (The mini bus going from the visitors centre to the Causeway rock, leaves every 15 mins at £1.50 single or £3 return, price could be subject to change) Returning back to your hotel to relax before dinner.

Day 4: Belfast

After an early breakfast we drive into Belfast to City Hall where we will pick up our city guide. We will be given a full guided tour of the city of Belfast and the docks where the Titanic was built. We will be dropped off at City Hall for lunch and a little free time. We will be picked up again at City Hall and transferred to Titanic Belfast. We will have free time to explore the site and the visitor's centre of the Titanic. When RMS Titanic sailed away on her maiden voyage on April 10th, 1912, she was hailed as 'the new wonder of the world'. A remarkable feat of engineering, she was the largest and most luxuriously appointed ship ever seen and, despite her tragic sinking five days later, she remains a source of enduring pride in the city where she was built - Belfast. Returning by coach back to the hotel, where you can relax after an exciting day, before dinner.

Day 5: Hillsborough Castle

There is a treat in store today with a rare visit to the King's official residence in Northern Ireland, Hillsborough Castle. After a guided tour of the elegant mansion and the majestic throne room, there is time to explore the gardens. Morning tea & scones will be served in one of the rooms provided. We then leave the castle to explore Hillsborough town itself with its Georgen architecture and visitors centre with an original courtroom exhibit. We finish the day with a visit to Thomas Ferguson's Irish Linen at Banbridge, producers of the finest damask table linen as used in Buckingham Palace. We return back to the hotel and relax before dinner.

Day 6: Depart for Dublin

After breakfast and cases have been loaded into the coach, we say farewell to our Hotel, and head for Dublin.

Day 7: Depart for Home

This morning we head for the port of Dublin for our morning ferry back to Holyhead. On arrival in Wales we travel through Wales with stops on the way, to our departure points. We should be back by early evening.
