The Lansdowne Hotel

King Edward's Parade, Eastbourne BN21 4EE.
Tel: 01323 725174.

The 3 star Lansdowne Hotel has the perfect location, opposite the beach and Western Lawns, arguably in the best beachfront location. Family owned since 1912, it has sea-facing lounges with original Victorian features.

The 1912 Seafood & Steak restaurant officially opened in 2022, and is located on the ground floor of the hotel. It is a large airy restaurant offering spectacular views over the sea; the 1912 brand represents the Lansdowne's fascinating history.

The hotel is currently in its 110th year of being owned and run by the same family, now in its fourth generation. It is believed that the Lansdowne is one of only a handful of hotels in the UK that have been owned and run by the same family for over a century.

All 98 well appointed bedrooms have en-suite with free toiletries, hairdryer, TV and tea and coffee making facilities.

Guests can walk straight out of the hotel and relax on the beach, enjoy the paved beachfront walk, stroll to the pier or explore the town.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Depart Local Area for Eastbourne

After boarding your luxury coach and departing the local area you travel south towards Kent and Eastbourne. A stop for lunch at Tunbridge Wells. Royal Tunbridge Wells is the only spa town in the South East of England. Discover Tunbridge Wells' 400-year history. The town's elegant architecture, especially in The Pantiles, accommodates a variety of independent shops, cafes and restaurants. Royal Victoria Place, the High Street and the department stores of Fenwick's and Hoopers add to this choice. After lunch your journey continues to Eastbourne and your hotel, the 3 star Lansdowne Hotel, where you will spend the next four night's half board. On arrival there will be tea/coffee while your luggage is taken to your rooms.

Day 2: Day at Leisure

Today is a free day to do as you wish. If the weather is good spend time on the beach or just explore the town and shops. Take a ride on the little Noddy train which takes you around, (if it's running)

Day 3: Bluebell Rail Journey

After a leisurely breakfast, you embark on a nostalgic ride on the Bluebell Railway. You travel to Sheffield Park Station where you have time to explore the museum before we board the train to East Grinstead and return. The Bluebell Railway was one of the first preserved heritage lines in the country commencing train services in 1960. As a result, they have one of the finest collections of vintage steam locomotives and carriages. Sheffield Park, Horsted Keynes and Kingscote stations were all built in traditional 'Queen Anne' style in 1882 and have all been seen regularly on television and in films including Downton Abbey, Muppets Most Wanted movie and Churchill's Secret. The museum is one of the highlights. It is a fascinating museum with exhibits to intrigue all visitors. It is situated at Sheffield Park station on Platform 2. Many can remember travelling on steam trains and a few can even recall being evacuated during the Second World War. The museum is a wonderful place to re-live these memories. After your return journey, you re-board the coach and return back to the hotel.

Day 4: Pashley Manor Gardens

Today you visit Pashley Gardens. At Pashley you will discover 11 acres of beautiful borders and vistas. These graceful gardens are owned and maintained by the family. Sweeping herbaceous borders, well maintained lawns, box hedges, rose walk, historic walled garden, inspiring kitchen garden, venerable trees and the Grade 1 listed house as a backdrop. The gardens are also a haven for wildlife, bees, butterflies and small birds as well as moorhens, ducks and a black swan. There is also a cafe and gift shop with plant sales. A recipe for a wonderful day out is complete, you return back to your hotel.

Day 5: Return Journey

After breakfast and cases have been loaded on to the coach, you say farewell to your hosts at the Lansdowne Hotel and head back to your local area. Arriving back late afternoon.
