Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Depart Local Area

After boarding your luxury coach and departing the local area, you travel south to Hampshire. You will stop for lunch at Newbury. After lunch, your journey continues south to your hotel, the 4 star Solent Hotel & Spa, in Whiteley, Fareham, where you will spend the next four nights with dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 2: Guided Tour of its Famous Local History

After breakfast, you will meet your local guide at the hotel for a full day's tour. They will bring to life some of the world-famous local history, including a visit to the D-Day Museum, telling a moving story of Liberation in Europe. Later, enjoy some free time in the historic village of Southwick, with its own D-Day story to tell.

This afternoon continues to the fascinating Fort Nelson, located in a key position overlooking Portsmouth. Fort Nelson was built in the 1860's to protect against a potential invasion by the French, which never materialised. Discover the fort's intriguing history in the building itself and through the museum exhibits. Step back in time and explore a fully restored Victorian fort with its high ramparts, original fortifications, massive parade ground and underground tunnels. Plus, there is the National Museum housing over 700 pieces of artillery from across the world and spanning 600 years of history, each with its own story to tell. From here, you return to the hotel.

Day 3: A Ticket to Ryde on a Hovercraft

Today, you can enjoy a hovercraft return trip across the Solent. Whisking you from the shoreline at Southsea to the charming resort of Ryde on the Isle of Wight. There will be plenty of time to explore this quaint seaside town at your leisure. You may want to visit the unique Donald McGill 'Naughty Postcard' Museum, which will bring back lots of seaside memories or browse the great independent shops and cafes. You will then return to Southsea by hovercraft to rejoin your coach and return to your hotel.

Day 4: Portsmouth & the Spinnaker Tower

Today you will travel to Portsmouth, the Great Waterfront City - packed with world-class attractions, and venues just metres from one another. First, you will experience the view from Spinnaker Tower - the stunning 170-metre icon of the South Coast and Britain's best viewing tower. You will ascend to the viewing decks to see the most fascinating sea and landscape. Venture across the amazing glass Sky Walk and watch the boats bobbing about on the waves below your feet. Then, after the adrenaline rush, sit back and relax with the stunning views or enjoy coffee and cake at The Clouds Cafe, located 105 metres above the harbour. If you love to shop, then there is no better place than Gunwharf Quays, with over 90 famous branded shops. When it's time to relax, you'll find an array of bars, coffee shops and restaurants.

Day 5: Day of Departure

After breakfast and cases have been loaded onto the coach, you say farewell to your hosts at the Solent Hotel and head back with comfort stops to your local area. Arriving back late afternoon.
