Your Holiday Centre

Dawlish Warren is the ultimate family seaside resort - built on a spit of sand with the Exe Estuary on one side and the sea on the other with golden sands and clean bathing waters. It has all the attractions of a traditional holiday getaway but in an outstanding natural environment. Essentially a sandy spit, the natural processes of the sea working against the coast formed Dawlish Warren. In recent history Dawlish Warren was developed as the railway brought in more visitors keen to enjoy the beaches along the South Devon coast and today manages to be both an outstanding nature reserve and family orientated seaside resort. The nature reserve is over 500 acres of protected grassland, sand dunes, mudflats and is home to over 600 different species of plants and over 23,000 wildfowl and wading birds - so if you like bird watching, it's the best place to be.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Depart Local Area

After boarding your luxury coach, your holiday has now started. You start your journey by travelling westward with stops en-route for lunch. Continuing your journey through beautiful countryside, to the Devonshire town of Dawlish and the Langstone Cliff Hotel where you shall spend the next four nights with dinner, bed and breakfast. Time to settle in before dinner. There is a drinks reception each evening before dinner and a complementary drink.

Day 2: Brixham

Generations have been enchanted by the charm and romance of Brixham, a colourful and bustling fishing port at the southern end of Torbay. The hilly town is built around the central harbour area, which remains the lifeblood of this quaint historic town. Vibrant fishermen's cottages gaze out across the port and the fishing trawlers below. Brixham is one of the three towns that make up Torbay on the English Riviera. The picture postcard harbour has a replica of the Golden Hind beside the quay amongst the yachts and fishing boats. The town and harbour side has many interesting shops and cafes among the maze of narrow, winding streets. We return to the hotel, where you can have a walk along the prom or just relax before dinner.

Day 3: Buckfast Abbey & Rail from Buckfastleigh-Totnes & Return

Today you can experience serenity and an inspirational time at Buckfast Abbey. Nestled in a valley on the edge of Dartmoor, the Abbey is home to a working community of Benedictine monks. Founded by King Canute in 1018, Buckfast Abbey was at the heart of the community until Catholic monasteries were dissolved by King Henry VIII. The Abbey was forced to surrender all its land and wealth, which fell into disrepair. Only the stones remained as a living memorial to monasticism. Thankfully, in 1882, some French monks, looking for a new home, came to live on the site and painstakingly rebuilt the magnificent building which we see today.

This afternoon enjoy a ride with breathtaking scenery of the River Dart Valley as you journey between Buckfastleigh and Totnes and return on a charming steam train, complete with heritage rolling stock.

Day 4: Day at Leisure

Today you can enjoy a free day to explore the grounds and surrounding area, the facilities or the beach at your leisure.

Day 5: Depart for Home

After a hearty breakfast and cases have been loaded onto the coach it is time to say farewell to your hosts at the hotel. Retracing your steps, with comfort stops en-route, you will arrive in your local area, late afternoon, early evening.
