Isle of Portland & Jurassic Coast
Tour Price: £659.00 per person
Your Holiday Centre
The Isle of Portland is a gem in the UK, a part of Dorset like no other. Portland is stunning. It is thought of as an island, although this isn't wholly correct, as it is reached over a causeway from Chesil Beach. This plate of Jurassic limestone is tilted from north to south. On the north side of the island, you are rewarded with stunning views across the Chesil, Portland Harbour and Weymouth. The Isle of Portland is a central part of the Jurassic Coast, which means dinosaurs were living here 185 million years ago a World Heritage Site on the Dorset and East Devon coast, important for its geology and landforms. Portland Stone has been quarried on the island for many years and has been used in many buildings all around the world, including London's St Paul's Cathedral, the United Nations HQ in New York and, of course, the Olympic rings located on the island. Quarrying continues on the island, although Tout Quarry is now disused, but has become a sculpture park.

Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Depart Local Area
After boarding your luxury coach, we make our way south with comfort stops and lunch to our hotel, the Heights Hotel on the Isle of Portland. Here we will stay for four nights with half-board.
Day 2: Abbotsbury Gardens & Swannery
Today we visit the Swannery, with over 600 mute swans living together at Abbotsbury. This colony of a single species of swans is unique and the only one in the world. The mute swans are free flying and walk freely around the site. There are two main walks to see the swans, which include many features from the Swannery's history and the Fleet Lagoon. Later, we head to the gardens. Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens is no ordinary garden, with its own micro-climate in a sheltered woodland valley on the Jurassic Coast. Over 6000 species from across the world. The special plant collection has been built up over the last quarter of a century. Later, returning to the hotel.
Day 3: Day at Leisure
A day at leisure to explore the island or just relax.
Day 4: Monkey World
Today we enjoy a fun-filled, fascinating day out at Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre. Set in a 65-acre park which provides sanctuary for rescued and endangered primates from around the world. The park is well laid out and spacious for both humans and primates alike. You can also support Monkey World in continuing its rescue and rehabilitation work by adopting a primate, giving you free entry to the park for a whole year. There is also a cafe which serves hot and cold food. Later, returning to hotel.
Day 5: Depart for Home
After breakfast and cases have all been loaded onto the coach, its time to say farewell to our host at the Heights Hotel and head for home. There will be stops on the way. You should be back in your local area by late afternoon.
