Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Depart Local Area

After boarding your luxury coach, we make our way to Telford and the Iron Bridge. The Iron Bridge is a cast iron arch bridge that crosses the River Severn in Shropshire. Opened in 1781, it was the first major bridge in the world to be made of cast iron. Its success inspired the widespread use of cast iron as a structural material, and today the bridge is celebrated as a symbol of the Industrial Revolution. Here we shall have lunch before continuing to Ludlow and the 3 star Feathers Hotel where you will spend the next four nights half-board.

Day 2: West Midlands Safari Park

Today we go on safari. The park holds over 165 species of exotic animals and features other attractions such as a small theme park. The park contains the largest groups of white lions, cheetahs, hippopotamuses and meerkats in the UK, as well as the largest lemur walk-through exhibit. It was also the first park in the UK to have the African big five game animals, lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and African buffalo. We will take a drive through with the coach to see the larger animals, then you can do the Safari walk-through if you wish or explore the rest of the site. There is a restaurant on site for lunch. After an exciting time, we return to the hotel.

Day 3: Day at Leisure

After breakfast you have a free day. Today is also market day in Ludlow, so you might like to wander around to find those bargains, explore the town or perhaps visit the castle.

Day 4: Severn Valley Railway & Stokesay Castle

Today there will be a steam train ride from Kidderminster to Bridgenorth for a 70-minute ride. Arriving at Bridgenorth there will be a short time to explore this historic town. Later we travel to the medieval castle of Stokesay. Standing in a peaceful Shropshire valley near the Welsh border, Stokesay Castle has survived remarkably intact since a leading wool merchant, Laurence of Ludlow, built it in the late 13 century. His fine fortified manor house was both comfortable and impressive, designed as a statement of his wealth and power. Today, barely touched by the passage of years, the castle offers a unique insight into life in medieval England. (Please note due to the historic nature of the castle the whole site is unsuitable for motorised scooters and unassisted wheelchairs).

Day 5: Depart for Home

After a leisurely breakfast and all cases are loaded onto the coach, we say farewell to the Feathers Hotel and head for home.
