Day 2: Arrive Muhltal

Departing after an early breakfast, we continue our journey through Germany heading towards southern Bavaria. By mid-afternoon we are approaching Austria to arrive in the picturesque hamlet of Muhltal. Here we shall spend the next 6 nights with dinner, bed and breakfast accommodation at the stunning 4 star Hotel Bergkristall. You will be given a Wildschonau Card on arrival at hotel, to use on public transport and the chair lift for a mountain ride in the Wildschonau area.

Day 3: A Day at Leisure

A day at leisure to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of your resort area and to make use of the hotel's swimming pool and leisure facilities. For those who like to walk, take the little Bummelzug (noddy train) to Kundle Klam, and then walk through the fantastic gorge with waterfalls. At the far end is the small town of Kundle, where you can get refreshed before the walk back. (Weather permitting 6km approx 40 mins each way, wheelchair friendly, can be a little bumpy in parts).

We ascend in special buses via the Kehlsteinstrasse, a uniquely daring feat of construction, along a series of hairpin bends and up the northwest face of the Kehlstein to the parking place. Finally, we take the actual lift that Hitler used, to ascend the 400 feet in 1.5 minutes to the Eagle's Nest. Enjoy the breathtaking panorama over the Konigsee and Bavarian Alps or partake in some refreshment in the tearoom. This afternoon we return via the small town of Konigsee, set on the shores of Lake Konigsee. We then return to the hotel.

With a population of 440, it is the smallest town in the country. We continue our journey by travelling over the Gerloss Pass to the Krimml Waterfalls where we stop for photographs, sightseeing and lunch. (Entrance at own expense).
